Preparing cod

When you’re browsing the seafood section of your local supermarket, you’ll likely come across two main options for cod: whole and fillets.
Cod fillets are boneless and skinless cuts of fish that have been removed from the whole fish. They are a popular option for those who prefer to skip the cleaning and filleting process and get straight to cooking.
Dried and salted cod is cod which has been preserved by drying after salting. If you want to cook salt cod, you’ll need to rinse it and soak it for 24-48 hours in cold water in the fridge (skin side up); change the water 2-3 times a day.

Roasted cod

Cooking cod in an oven. Baking cod is a great way of cooking it. You just need to prepare it and cook it in the oven!
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Season your cod fillets with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices or herbs.
2. Place the fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Note: The booking time depends on the thickness of the fish fillet.

4. Carefully open each packet, being careful of the hot steam, and serve immediately.
Note: The booking time depends on the thickness of the fish fillet.

2. Place the fillets in the pan and cook for 3 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

1. Heat your air fryer at 400°F (200°C).
2. Cut your cod fillets in chunks, then dip your cod fillets in flour (or cornstarch), then in a whisked egg, then crushed cornflakes (the unsweetened ones of course).
3. Place the breaded cod fillets on one side of your airfryer, and frozen French fries on the other side of the air fryer basket.
4. Cook for 15-18 minutes. While it’s air frying, you can prepare coleslaw or an avocado mayonnaise (that one’s easy: 1 avocado + 6 tbsp of mayo + salt and pepper in a blender).

Cod is a popular fish that is known for its mild flavor and flaky white meat.
In addition to being a delicious fish, cod is also a great choice for a healthy diet. It is a lean protein source that is low in calories and fat, yet high in essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, and selenium. These nutrients are important for maintaining heart health, brain function, and overall wellness.
Eating cod is also a great way to get your daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and improve heart health. It’s also a good source of Vitamin B12 which is important for maintaining healthy nerves and red blood cells. Selenium, a mineral found in cod, is important for maintaining healthy thyroid function.
